What Happened to Silver in 2021?

Silver was hit by the Reddit/WallStreetBets short squeeze attempt in late January 2021, briefly spiking above $30 before collapsing as COMEX defended existing structures. The "Silver Squeeze" attracted massive retail buying but ultimately failed to sustain higher prices. Rising real yields, driven by inflation expectations, weighed on silver through the second half. Despite record solar demand, silver ended 2021 down 12%.
