What Happened to Silver in 2016?

Silver had a strong first half of 2016, gaining 50% from its January lows to peak above $21 in August — its best level in two years. Brexit in June drove safe-haven demand, and the Fed raised rates only once versus expected four. Trump's election in November initially hurt silver but it recovered. The gold/silver ratio fell from 80 to 71 as silver outperformed.
