About the Mexican Silver Libertad
The Mexican Silver Libertad is produced by the Casa de Moneda de Mexico (Mexican Mint), the oldest mint in the Western Hemisphere, established in 1535. The 1 oz Libertad features the iconic Winged Victoria (Angel of Independence) on the obverse — the same figure atop Mexico City's famous Independence Column monument — along with the Mexican coat of arms and the National Seal showing historical variations of that arms. The reverse bears the Mexican coat of arms surrounded by a ring of the historical arms used throughout Mexican history. At .999 fine silver, the Libertad qualifies for Silver IRA inclusion. Unlike most government silver coins, the Libertad carries no face value, instead deriving its value purely from silver content. This makes it unusual among sovereign bullion coins. The Libertad is particularly popular in Mexico, Latin America, and among coin collectors globally due to its distinctive design and historical significance.
